  • The cottage is lovely and very well equipped, there is nothing missing. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The garden is fenced, which was great for our furry friend. You can hear nothing but birds and sheep, so that relaxation is guaranteed.

  • A beautiful and welcoming home from home, very warm and comfortable. Bathroom and kitchen were well equiped. Ashley was very welcoming and responded quickly to anything that we asked or requested. He kindly showed us around his farm and made some great local recommendations for walks and things to do. The cottage had plenty of space and was great for our toddler.
    Lovely stay!

  • A beautiful and extremely comfortable cottage, well furnished and equipped with everything you could possibly need. We very much appreciated all the kind extras in kitchen (especially the delicious fresh eggs) and bathroom (lovely toiletries). And the provision of Ordnance Survey maps of the area. Very quiet and, although it was too cold to sit outside, we can imagine how lovely it must be on warmer days. We enjoyed watching the birds on the bird feeder and in the hedge opposite the kitchen window. We had cosy evenings in front of the wood burner. Excellent WiFi was useful too. Probably the best cottage we have ever stayed in and no doubt we will be back! Thank you Ashley for your kindness and hospitality

  • Such a beautiful place, easy to find and absolutely pristine. Shops, walks and soft plays near by for young children. We took our two year old and he absolutely loved our stay too. Defo recommend!

  • Wow this place is amazing, if I could live there full-time I would. Beautifully built and thought out. Exactly our style.
Has a log burner which was great for the cold days. Tamar lake around the corner is a lovely walk if like us we got a little snowed in.
So much wildlife on view at the accommodation and in the area.
Only a short drive to the local food shops and an hour from Padstow. Can't praise Ashley and Jenny enough. Made sure we were ok throughout the stay and nothing was ever too much. Will definitely be back next year.

Rooms: King size bed in the main room and 2 singles in the other. So comfortable.

Nearby activities: Tamar lake is about 15-20 min walk from the house. Then a beautiful walk around the lake finished off at the cafe for a great service.

  • Just finished a wonderful week away at Swallow Parlour, we have had the most amazing time! The cottage itself is beautiful inside and out, thoughtfully decorated and equipped with every comfort you could wish for. The hosts, Ashley and Jenny are so welcoming and helpful and go above and beyond to make their guests happy; scones, jam and cream on arrival was very much appreciated!
My kids especially were thrilled to help feed the tame lambs and collect eggs for their breakfast, to top off their week a little trip across the fields to check the lambs in the farm buggy!
It is very well located for many fantastic places to visit, and having Kilkhampton and Bradworthy close by makes local meals out and popping to the shops for bit and pieces easy peasy. We visited Clovelly, Bude, Sandymouth, Hidden Valley and several other places during our stay which were all fantastic.
My husband and son even managed to fit in a Park Run at the nearby Tamar Lakes, Ashley and his son also welcoming them to join in with this too.
Tamar lakes being a complete spot of beauty itself is overlooked by Ashley and Jenny’s farm; made even more of a wonderful place to walk by the opportunity to sample the great cups of coffee/ tea, food and gorgeous cakes available at the cafe there on site. Lower Tamar lake also deserving a mention, such a lovely walk and again very local to Swallow Parlour.
There is so much to recommend about this wonderful place I could go on a whole lot more! Swallow Parlour comes highly recommended from us and we would definitely like another visit there soon! Thanks Ashley and Jenny, until next time!

  • Another relaxing stay at Swallow Parlour - we can't believe this is our 6th stay since we first stayed over Christmas in 2016!!! It now feels like our 2nd home. Thanks for the cream tea, eggs, milk and flowers for when we arrived - it was all very gratefully received!! The woodfired pizza from Bradworthy Square on Thursdays, also a great recommendation.

We've had a lovely week walking along the Bude Canal into Bude, walking around Tamar Lakes (with a lovely coffee, lunch and ice cream at the cafe), walking the South West Coast Path from Hartland Quay to Hartland Point and back - definitely a 'rumbustious romp' as the sign stated! It was also a great location to drive to St Just and Cape Cornwall to visit the Lelant Mine.

Thanks Ashley Starr for taking Jon off cycling and running ready for the Saturday Parkrun at Tamar Lakes - it allowed me a bit of relaxation time in the peace and quiet of the Parlour.
We hope to see you all again soon for another stay.

  • It’s so nice to be back after the pandemic. It’s like ‘returning home’. Thank you for a lovely week. Jon missed feeding the ‘goats’, ‘rams’ but enjoyed feeding the chickens. Thanks for the eggs and biscuits it made Jon very happy 😁. No doubt we’ll be back again next year. ❤️

  • Lovely barn conversion, immaculately clean, really well equipped, and tastefully finished. It has a completely private garden and is quiet and peaceful but only a short drive to the coast, with lots of places to explore. The owners are really friendly and helpful and left tea, coffee, biscuits, etc. Would recommend it to anyone.

  • Swallow Parlour is the perfect place to relax and unwind, off the beaten track with only birds snd wildlife for company, yet close enough for the Tamar lakes, the coast and other attractions. “Swallow Parlour was a fabulous place for a relaxing holiday, ideal location, very clean, the hosts were lovely and provided those little extra touches that made us feel very welcome.”
